About Jill:
Jill was born and raised in Thailand. Her musical journey started when she was five years old, taking private piano lessons at home. By the time she was 15 years old, she knew without question that a life of studying and teaching piano would be her future.
Jill went to college and graduated from Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) with a degree in Western Music – Piano Performance. She also participated in piano masterclasses with many great piano artists including Caroline Fischer and Cheong Yew Choong. During her time in college, she taught piano lessons at several music schools as well as private lessons at students’ houses.
During her ten years of teaching piano, Jill discovered another passion of hers when she gave private lessons to several students with minor learning disabilities. While experimenting with different teaching techniques, she noticed that certain teaching methods would not only help her students learn piano, but help them work on their communication skills and social skills. This fueled her desire to learn about how music can be used in a therapeutic way. In 2017, Jill moved to the United States to do a two-year professional program in music therapy at Shenandoah University. With all the hard work and clinical hours, she became a board-certified music therapist!
Through out her journey working as a piano teacher and a music therapist, Jill has worked with a wide range of populations, including young children, school-age kids, adolescents and adult with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities, adult with range of medical issues, adults with psychological disorders, adults with terminal illness, and adults in an inpatient psychiatric unit.
